Music Program

The Chapel Hill UMC Choir is a group of committed, fun-loving worship leaders who make beautiful music each Sunday for the 8:30 worship service. Advent / Christmas and Lent / Easter are special highlights in the singing year. The choir experience includes the learning of the great hymns and anthems of the Church, skills in singing and music-reading, learning about the worship of the church, fellowship  activities, and service. The choir welcomes new members, whether experienced or beginning. There are no auditions for membership, and the only qualification is a true desire to be of service to God and the Church. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 6:00 in the sanctuary.  Childcare is provided.  All are welcome.

Chapel Hill Praise Band provides contemporary praise music for the 11:00 am worship service.  All musicians (instrumentalists and singers) who are interested in performing with the praise band please contact Cara Coffey, Praise Band Leader.

For further information about participating in our music program contact our Music Director, George Capps.

Music Program Members Enjoy Health and Spiritual Benefits...

There they are, on the seventh page of the United Methodist Hymnal, “Directions for Singing” from John Wesley, the founder of Methodism:

“Sing all… Sing lustily and with good courage… Sing in time… Above all, sing spiritually. Have an eye to God in every word you sing… So shall your singing be such as the Lord will approve here, and reward you when he cometh in the clouds of heaven.”
